Amaco Glazes

Amaco are popular glazes hailing from the United State and are designed to be used in combination with one another or for unique variations of texture on your pieces. Amaco Glazes are all suitable for Cone 5-6 Firing Temperature for optimal results, with some of the range also able to fire up to Cone 10 (but with possible variations to colour).

The Potter's Choice glaze series was designed with the potter in mind! These stunning glazes add fluid colours and effects to smooth or textured ware, with optimal results at Cone 5/6. To use these glazes is to step into different ceramic glaze traditions of many cultures throughout history. pc-01 saturation metallic

Great for sculptural work and industrial ware, Saturation Metallic is a satin metallic black glaze that resembles steel and other metals.

Food Safe. Best results at Cone 5/6.


pc-02 saturation gold

Saturation Gold has a smooth, satin/matte finish that is a dark gold similar to bronze when fired. Perfect for sculptural work and industrial ware, this glaze could be a unique accent for any work of art.

Food Safe. Best results at Cone 5/6.


pc-09 vintage gold

Vintage Gold is a glossy metallic glaze which develops small triangular gold crystals with dark haloes like a glittering patina. This opaque glaze does not break over texture. For best results apply three even brush coats. ​A dramatic glaze for sculptural or non-functional work. Glaze may run.​

pc-10 june bug

June Bug is a glossy, dark green metallic glaze that develops small triangular iridescent crystals, like the wings of a beetle. This opaque glaze does not break over texture. For best results apply three even brush coats. Glaze may run.

pc-11 blue spark

Blue Spark is a glossy, royal blue glaze which develops small triangular dark gray metallic crystals that make this glaze look like lapis lazuli. This opaque glaze does not break over texture. For best results apply three even brush coats. Glaze may run.

pc-12 blue midnight

Blue Midnight is a glossy black glaze that breaks into blue highlights where thick. This glaze is good for textured work and also layers well with other Potter's Choice Glazes.

pc-17 honey flux

Honey Flux is a creamy color that increases flow when layered over glazes. Opaque honey and cream at Cone 5 that shifts to a beautiful fluid white with honey flecks at Cone 6.​

pc-20 blue rutile

Great for layering and textured work, Blue Rutile is an active, complex glaze that is a flowing blue where thick and breaks brown where thinner. Great for layering and always interesting, this glaze is always one of our top selling Potters Choice glazes!

pc-21 arctic blue

Arctic Blue is a beautiful, opaque light blue that has a smooth, consistent surface and breaks tan over texture. This glaze lends very well to layering with other Potter's Choice Glazes.

pc-23 indigo float

Indigo Float is an intensely blue glaze with a lighter blue surface float. This rich cobalt glaze breaks deep blue where thinner. Great for layering with other potters choice glazes!

A subtle turquoise gloss, green-beige where thin, but a beautiful aqua where thick. Great for textured ware and layering with other Potter's Choice glazes.

Tourmaline is an intense, opaque blue-green glaze that forms a smooth, strong surface. Goes well layered with other potters choice glazes!

pc-29 deep olive speckle

Deep Olive Speckle is a rich, translucent, glossy green glaze with darker green speckles. Looks great when layered with our other Potter's Choice glazes.

pc-30 tenmoku

Temmoku is a textured, satin-matte dark brown/tan speckled glaze that looks great layered beneath some of the more fluid Potter's Choice glazes. With its consistent surface and reliable results, this glaze makes a fantastic liner for cups, pots, bowls, and other ware.

PC-31 OATMEAL

Oatmeal is a toasty, light yellow glaze that is relatively opaque and breaks clear over textured surfaces. This glaze is great for layering with other Potters Choice glazes.

pc-32 albany slip brown

Like the traditional potter's glaze that inspired it, Albany Slip Brown is fluid and butter colored where thick and russet where thin. Great layered over or under other Potter's Choice glazes.

pc-33 iron lustre

More restrained, but similar to a regular blue glaze, Iron Lustre is brown where thin with blue-gray floats where thick. It is beautiful on texture and layers well with other Potter's Choice glazes.

pc-34 light sepia

Light Sepia is an opalescent grey glaze that features strong variations on textured ware. This glaze breaks golden beige where thin and lends well to layering with our other Potters Choice Glazes.

pc-41 vert lustre

Vert Lustre is a beautiful flowing green glaze with a metallic sheen like that of ancient Persian Lusterware. This glaze reacts well to texture and has great effects when layered with other Potter's Choice Glazes.

pc-42 seaweed

Seaweed is a fluid, deep green glaze that layers beautifully with a variety of Potter's Choice glazes. This glaze breaks brownish over texture and becomes more fluid with thickness. Pay attention to application thickness so the glaze does not flow onto kiln shelves during firing.

pc-46 lustrous jade

Lustrous jade is a glossy, opaque glaze that boasts a soft, even green finish like the gemstone it is named for. This glaze layers well with our other Potter's Choice glazes.

pc-47 emerald falls

Emerald Falls is a beautiful glossy green glaze that breaks lighter and pools into a mauve grey-green. When heavier coats are applied this allows the glaze to float up and create interesting surface variations echoing mossy patches found in rolling emerald landscapes.

pc-48 art deco green

Art Deco Green is a glossy, light blue-green glaze that floats metallic spots to the surface resembling a patinate copper roof.

When applied thin, this glaze tends to have more metallic spots. A thicker application should result in smaller spots.

pc-53 ancient jasper

Ancient Jasper is a fluid, opaque glaze that transitions from soft black to olive green to rust red as it is applied thicker. This glaze has an active, varied surface by itself and layers with our other Potter's Choice glazes with striking results.

pc-55 chun plum

Chun Plum is a pink-red translucent glaze that breaks light tan over textures. This glaze imitates the copper reds of Asia but with a reliable color response in oxidation firings. Layer over other Potters Choice glazes for a warmer tone and hints of pink and red.

pc-57 smokey merlot

Smokey Merlot is a warm, dark purple glaze with a soft float of lilac over the surface. This glaze looks stunning on smooth surfaces, over textured surfaces, and layered with our other Potters Choice glazes.

pc-59 deep firebrick

Deep Firebrick is an opaque, speckled brick red glaze that breaks translucent where thin. This bold, dark red glaze has a strong presence and layers well under or over other Potter's Choice glazes.

pc-61 textured amber

Textured Amber is a semi-matte brown glaze that has a varied, translucent surface with a textured float of opaque tan speckles. Try layering this glaze with our other Potter's Choice glazes!

pc-65 black aventurine

Black Aventurine is a fluid, rich black glaze that develops a metallic sparkle.​ If slow cooled, this glaze will grow crystals.

pc-67 river rock

The sandy, dark brown tones of River Rock feather into a beautiful ebony before breaking into a rich amber when applied over texture. Subtle green-grey honeycomb shapes appear underneath the amber breaks when this glossy glaze is applied on vertical surfaces.

pc-70 copper red

Copper Red is an oxblood red that gives the same results in oxidation as a traditional reduction copper glaze​. Copper Red breaks clear on edges or where thin.

Apply 3 coats for best results, do not thin glaze.

pc-71 flambe

Flambé​ is a copper red glaze with tones of purple and blue, that gives the same results in oxidation as a traditional reduction copper glaze. Flambé breaks clear on edges or where thin.

Like the beautiful ancient glazes they are modeled after, the AMACO Celadon glazes are glossy, transparent, and pool beautifully to add vivid accents to textured and carved surfaces. These playful celadons come in many colors and are 100% mixable- great for finding that perfect color!

Influenced by the humble earthiness of tea ceremony bowls, our Shino glazes give a traditional high-iron look to any high fire clay body. Beautiful on textured or smooth clay bodies, blendable to get the right degree of matte or glossy surface.

Shino glazes can also be layered with our PC line of glazes for different effects.

Satin Mattes break slightly over edges and texture and boast a soft satin feel. These glazes are formulated to be 100% mixable. Use Clear Satin to lighten color tones, Satin Black to create shades, and Satin White to create tints.

potters choice flux

Based on the widely popular PC-17 Honey Flux glaze, all of the colors in the Potter's Choice Flux glaze series line are the perfect addition to any potter's glaze tool box. These glazes are beautiful on textured surfaces where the glazes can break and show the clay body color.

The PCF's are great for layering with other Potter’s Choice glazes, AMACO Celadons, or AMACO Shino glazes. These glazes can be used alone or layered to soften the colours of other glazes and increase flow.

PCF-19 Cirrus Flow is a glossy pale blue glaze like a delicate cloud. This glaze breaks across textured surfaces and develops a peachy float when thick. Great for layering with other glazes as a base or top coat.
